An anthology of writings on prayer and inner watchfulness by Eastern Christian teachers from the fourth to the fifteenth centuries, compiled by Nikodemos of the Holy Mountain and Makarios of Corinth and published in Venice in 1782. Its unifying thread is stillness (hesychia) and unceasing prayer of the heart, especially the Jesus Prayer.
